The Mayor’s Charity Gala will return next month for the first time since 2018, as the city’s charitable trust continues a fundraising revival after its future was placed under review two years ago.
The event at Beenleigh Events Centre on Saturday 5 September will raise money for the City of Logan Charitable Trust, an independent legal entity established by Logan City Council to fund local charities and community projects.
The trust endured a turbulent 2024, when the council ordered a review of its future and the organisation temporarily paused donations amid uncertainty over its operations.
Its then-board later resigned and interim directors were appointed.
Now the gala is returning with Logan businesses helping stage the event, from catering and photography to styling, produce and entertainment.
Trust deputy chair Ali Raven said the night would showcase the people behind the city as well as raise money for local causes.
“Logan is home to some truly remarkable people and businesses,” Ms Raven said.
“One of the things I love most about this city is the passion people have for supporting each other and creating a strong sense of community.”
Woodridge-based Elysian Event Hire will transform the Beenleigh venue into an enchanted garden.
Director Saalihah Seedat said supporting local businesses strengthened the wider community.
“Every opportunity to work together strengthens our local economy, creates jobs, encourages innovation, and builds lasting relationships that benefit the Logan region for years to come,” Ms Seedat said.
Other supporters listed by the trust include Logan Catering Co, KWP Studios, Zesty Productions, Herb St Nature Gifts and Poppy’s Chocolate.
River Road Tavern and Eagle Tavern are presenting partners, while Woolworths will contribute $1000 in gift cards.
The money raised will feed into the trust’s grant pool.
Its May 2024 funding round attracted requests worth about six times the money available, with $65,150 ultimately distributed among seven projects supporting food relief, children in care, domestic violence survivors and education programs.
More recent grants have supported Open Haven, Empower Assistance Dogs and Logan City Orchestras.
“The Mayor’s Charity Gala is not only about raising funds for important causes, it’s also about celebrating the talented people who help make Logan the incredible city it is,” Ms Raven said.
The gala will run from 6pm to 11pm on Saturday 5 September at Beenleigh Events Centre.
Tickets start at $275 and include a three-course meal, drinks and entertainment, with additional fundraising activities held during the night.
