Police liaison officers joined families, students and staff at Berrinba East State School for the launch of Logan’s first school laundry service.
Queensland Police said Logan Police Liaison Officers Maria and Shana attended the school on Thursday 21 May for the official launch of the Orange Sky laundry service.
The service gives the school community access to free washing and drying facilities.
Police said the officers spoke with parents, carers, students and teachers about the new service and the positive impact it had already had within the school community.
Orange Sky Australia provides free laundry, shower and connection services for people experiencing homelessness and hardship.
The organisation began in Brisbane in 2014, when founders Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett converted an old van into a mobile laundry service.
Its school laundry program aims to reduce barriers for young people and families who may struggle to access clean clothes, uniforms or basic hygiene services.
