3D-printed weapon and drugs allegedly found in Springwood property raid

A man is facing drug and firearm charges after police allegedly found a loaded 3D-printed handgun, methylamphetamine and about $41,000 cash during a search of a local property.

Officers from the Logan District Tactical Crime Squad Drug and Firearm Team executed a search warrant at the Springwood property about 9.50am on Wednesday, May 6.

Queensland Police said the warrant was part of ongoing investigations into the alleged possession and supply of dangerous drugs and unlawful firearms offences.

During the search, officers allegedly found the 3D-printed handgun in a bedroom, along with .22 calibre ammunition.

Police also allegedly found 97 grams of methylamphetamine, cannabis, GHB/GBL, anabolic steroids, prescription medications including oxycodone, clonazepam and buprenorphine strips, along with drug utensils and items police said were consistent with the packaging and supply of dangerous drugs.

The $41,000 cash was allegedly found throughout the residence, along with several mobile phones.

The 31-year-old male has been charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime.

He has also been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a Category D/H/R weapon, possessing a dangerous drug in a quantity of or exceeding schedule 3 but less than schedule 4, possessing relevant substances or things, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act, possessing utensils or pipes for use and authority required to possess explosives.

Police said the man was due to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 8.

The charges have not been tested in court and investigations are ongoing.
