A Chambers Flat man, 37, was among three men charged following an investigation into a stolen vehicle that was later set alight at Southport, police said.
Police allege about 12.50am on Sunday, 15 March, two men set fire to a white Toyota Hilux at a business on Davenport Street. The ute was destroyed in the fire.
The Hilux had been reported stolen during a burglary at a Logan Village address on Possum Court sometime between late on 2 January and the morning of 3 January.
Police allege the fire spread and caused damage to a blue Suzuki Grand Vitara and a business shade-sail awning, which were nearby to the Hilux when it was set on fire.
Police will allege the two men, along with a driver, who police believe was the Chambers Flat man, fled north along Davenport Street in a white Holden Trax, which had not been reported stolen.
Following investigations, detectives executed a series of search warrants in Logan and the Gold Coast.
On 26 March, a Goodna man, 27, was arrested at a Cramp Street address.
Two days later, on 28 March, the Holden Trax allegedly linked to the incident was found at a Delaway Street Chambers Flat property and the car’s owner was arrested.
On 31 March, a third warrant was executed at a Hayden Street address in Riverview, where police found a 19-year-old man with significant burns to his face and body.
Police allege he, along with the 27-year-old Goodna man, lit the fire.
All three men were charged with three counts of arson, two counts of attempted arson and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The Chambers Flat man and the Goodna man have been remanded in custody and are expected to reappear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 9 April.
The Riverview man is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today, 1 April.
