Musician Eva Ilov says her time on Australian Idol may have come to an end this week, but the experience has helped shape what comes next.
The Brisbane performer was eliminated during the top 21 stage of the competition, ending a run that began with a memorable audition earlier this season and saw her build a following among viewers.
In a video shared with followers after her elimination, Ilov described reaching the Top 21 as “a massive achievement”.
“I walked into this journey hoping to grow as an artist, and I feel like I did just that,” Ms Ilov said.
“I’m walking away feeling like I’ve learned so much, not just about performing, but about myself.”
Ms Ilov said the show had been an “emotional rollercoaster”, but the experience helped her develop as both a performer and a person.
“I met an incredible bunch of people who I feel like will be lifelong friends,” she said, adding she would also take on board the feedback offered by the judges.
Ms Ilov joked that toward the end of the competition, she felt she had been placed in a “Barbie girl box”, but said she remained grateful for the opportunity and exposure the show had given her.
Before appearing on national television, Ms Ilov trained at Performance Studios, where she worked with vocal coaches and performance mentors to develop her stage presence and technique.
Her connection to the Loganholme studio continues, with Ms Ilov set to headline an upcoming event at the venue’s Club Noir performance space from 7.30pm on Friday, 20 March.
The show, titled An Evening with Eva: From Vocals to Vinyl, will see the singer step behind the decks under the name DJ NVR EVR, blending her vocal background with DJ performance.
Ilov told supporters the end of her Idol journey would not slow her down.
“This definitely isn’t the end,” she said. “I’m just getting started.”
