Break fast together at Iftar dinner

An annual community Iftar dinner in Logan is set to bring together people of different faiths and cultural backgrounds during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will host this year’s Logan Iftar at Baitul Masroor Mosque in Stockleigh on Saturday, 14 March and is inviting community members, faith leaders and local residents to break the fast together.

Iftar marks the evening meal when Muslims end their daily fast during Ramadan.

Organisers say the event aims to encourage conversation and understanding between people from different religious traditions.

The program centres on the theme “Fasting in My Religion”, with speakers from Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Buddhist communities sharing perspectives on fasting and spirituality.

Last year’s event attracted more than 400 attendees, including multicultural community leaders and representatives from across south-east Queensland.

Imam Mohammad Atae Rabbi Hadi from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Queensland said gatherings such as the Logan Iftar helped strengthen connections in a diverse society.

“These events are especially important in today’s global climate, showing that people from different backgrounds can come together in unity and mutual respect,” he said.

Organisers say the Iftar is designed as an open-door event, welcoming neighbours and community representatives to share a meal and conversation.

The event will begin at 4pm, with guests arriving from 3.30pm at the Nevile Road Mosque.
