Boronia Heights boy to appear in court

A 17-year-old Boronia Heights boy is expected to appear before the Beenleigh Children’s Court today and face six charges of illegally using a car.

Police arrested the boy last night after two cars, a grey 2021 Audi Q3 and a blue 2014 Mazda CX-5, which police allege have been linked with a number of property crimes, were seen travelling through south Brisbane towards Logan and the Gold Coast at around 6.30pm.

Police allege both cars were stolen, the Audi Q3 from Lentara Street in Kenmore on 24 October and the Mazda CX-5 from Azurite Close in Logan Reserve on 26 October.

Two people in the Audi Q3 were tracked by PolAir to Brown Plains, where police allege the Boronia Heights boy fled the car on foot into nearby bushland. Police said he was taken into custody by dog squad officers.

A 13-year-old Durack boy was arrested and charged with 13 property offences at a house on Mount Street in Browns Plains a short time later, according to police.

The Mazda CX-5 was found in Underwood by police. Their investigations continue.
