If you were watching the news or social media last week, you might have seen what happens when loud-mouthed outsiders take a chop at the City of Logan.
The comments came about on the show My Kitchen Rules when our two local girls Lol and Lil shared they were from Logan. Then another contestant, Michael, said that Logan was a slum and we were all bogans.
I wasn’t going to take that lying down, so I fired back.
I took to the airways to call this bloke out for talking down our city.
One of my favourite comments was from a local Samoan leader who said if Michael came to Logan, she could teach him a few things about good manners and great cooking.
Sometimes it’s easy to take our diversity for granted, but at the Global Food Markets next to Woodridge Station we can get food from every corner of the world.
Every Sunday in our Croydon Road food precinct, passionate market vendors serve up a wide range of fresh produce and authentic street food that would go toe to toe with anything that MKR contestants could dish up.
Logan is full of flavour. It’s also the fastest growing and most diverse city in Australia.
Every year, more people are choosing to raise their families here. And why wouldn’t they? It’s an amazing city with so much to offer.
People who live in Logan love it, but everyone else tries to talk us down. Changing our reputation will take time, and it’s something I think about and work on every day.
I know Logan locals are proud of where we come from.
Our Logan-based MKR competitors Lil and Lol did our community proud last week.
They showed Australia what Logan is made of: grit, grace, and just a little bit of spice.
If all this talk about food has stoked your appetite, tickets are selling fast for this weekend’s Flame BBQ and Music Festival in Jimboomba.
Jump online now for a great evening of country music and great food – best of all kids are free and so are the rides.
