A local nurse has been suspended after he allegedly raped a woman at Logan Hospital.
Court documents show Dylan Paul Shanks, a married father from Logan Village, has been charged with one count of rape, according to News Corp.
Logan and Beaudesert health service executive director Anne Coccetti said the hospital was notified of an incident of alleged sexual assault by an employee on 13 May 2025.
She said the employee was immediately suspended, and the matter escalated to the Office of the Health Ombudsman, the Metro South Health Ethical Standards Unit, and the Crime and Corruption Commission.
“Hospital staff provided support to the victim and assisted the Queensland Police Service and Office of the Health Ombudsman with their investigations.
“We offer our unreserved apology for the distress caused by this incident.
“We hold our staff to the highest standards and this behaviour will not be tolerated.
“Logan Hospital remains committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment for all.”
The Queensland Health Obudsman claimed in a statement online that it took “immediate” action against Mr Shanks by suspending his nursing registration.
“The suspension of registration means that Dylan Paul Shanks is prohibited from practising as a nurse for the duration of the suspension,” the statement read.
“In accordance with section 62(2) of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 (the Act), the decision will continue to have effect until the earlier of the following happens – the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision; the Health Ombudsman revokes the suspension under section 65 of the Act.”
