VILLAGE clubhouses are the centre of hundreds of homes in the Logan area, the heart of retirement communities where residents mingle, play and sometimes eat.
Halcyon Rise recently opened theirs when new guests arrived at Crestmead. Amber at Living Gems Logan Village is about to welcome guests to their new facility.
Late last week, Ingenia Lifestyle Bethania’s second community clubhouse opened to the tune of around $3 million. That’s one clubhouse for each end of the complex.
Ingenia Communities residential manager Justin Blumfield said the newest clubhouse was specifically designed to complement the existing amenities as the Bethania community grows.
“The clubhouse is an integral part of the communities we build and set a benchmark for retirement living,” Mr Blumfield said.
“Residents had a first look at the clubhouse today (Friday) and it’s wonderful to hear how excited they all are to start spending time with one another in the new social space.
“While there is already a clubhouse here at Bethania, the new space offers an expanded range of facilities to help build on the strong sense of community that already exists here.”
The clubhouse includes a swimming pool, spa, alfresco barbecue area, lawn bowling green, hair salon, community hall, kitchen, bar, library, and media room.
Councillor Tony Hall said local amenities, like the over 50s clubhouse, that could drive community connection in the City of Logan were important in creating a strong sense of belonging and to attract new people to the area as the city grows.
“It is now more important than ever that people have opportunities to come together, socialise and find themselves surrounded by good neighbours and a community that they feel connected to,” Cr Hall said.
“The concept of a ‘communal hub’ is a fantastic way to build authentic engagement among people and the clubhouse provides an opportunity to cater to the interests and needs of the many different residents who live here.”
