Funding is available for ex-service organisations and other local community groups to host an event during Veterans’ Health Week this year to encourage veterans and their families to stay connected.
The theme for the week, from October 24-November 1 is “social connection”. It would support ideas such as meditation, yoga sessions, local catch-ups and creative workshops – either in person or virtually.
“We have some fantastic veterans’ organisations in Forde such as the Beenleigh RSL who do a fantastic job supporting and advocating for our veterans,” Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen said.
“This funding will help those organisations to host COVIDSafe events and activities for our local veterans.
“I encourage local organisations in Forde to apply and host a Veterans’ Health Week event so that we can keep our community spirits high while we face the coronavirus pandemic.”
