Big dreams for Logan’s country music future

Two lovers of country music have ambitions to transform Logan into “the” country music destination.

The founders of Diamond Realm Promotions, Tammy and Mal West – the latter of which listeners of 101fm might recognise – formed the business after talking to hundreds of country music artists about their journeys.

“… and the struggles they have to find local venues in Logan able to hold 70 to 150 people and that are wanting to work with them to do gigs without charging an arm and a leg for venue hire,” Mr West said.

“There are two main ways for musicians to make money: live performances and customised merchandise.

“The larger artists have managers and corporate sponsorships to support them. Unfortunately, the majority of country music artists have to work other paid jobs while they build their music dream.”

The Wests are looking to help these artists achieve their dreams, while also attracting regular, live country music to the city.

“We are currently looking for venues in Logan that want to work with us to make Logan the country music destination,” Mr West said.

“We have many popular Australian country music artists who would love to play here now and are interested in being involved in the future in live gigs and our Mystery Bus Trip.”

The mystery trip Mr West referred to is a day tour through hidden locations across the hinterland, which involves food, prizes and live performances by two ‘mystery’ country musicians.

The inaugural event is a full day mission, meeting at the Corner of Leda Drive and Service Road, Loganholme at 8.30 on 14 June, and returning there at about 5pm that day.

“Our Country Music Mystery Day Trip came about as we were trying to do
something a little different,” Mr West said.

“We’ve always loved the concept of a mystery trip. We combine the fun and excitement of a mystery event with the increasing popularity of Australian country music while introducing
new music and artists to new audiences.

“We are looking for people who love a little adventure.”
