A man has been charged with the attempted murder of an elderly woman after she was allegedly stabbed in her Boronia Heights home.
Emergency services were on Saturday called to a Short Street property at around 11.40pm, according to police.
Officers found a woman, aged 70, with life-threatening stab wounds to her face, neck and chest.
She was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where a Metro South Health spokesperson says she remains in a serious but stable condition.
A 40-year-old Boronia Heights man, who police allege knows the woman, was taken into custody after the incident.
On Monday, police said they charged him with attempted murder, breaking and entering, wilful damage and domestic violence offences.
The matter was heard before Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
It will return to court today.
