Jimboomba motorbike rider Hudson Francis is taking his motocross career to new heights, representing Australia in high-profile amateur U.S. events this month.
The young rider has been making waves since starting at just four years old.
He claimed the Australian Junior Motocross Championship in 2023 on his 50cc bike and has earned medals at multiple Queensland Titles.
The ten-year-old recently competed in The Clash Motoplayground Dirty 100 event at the Georgia Practice Facility in Cairo, where he dominated the 7-11 novice 65cc class with two first-place finishes.
Following his stellar performance, Hudson raced in the prestigious Thor Mini O’s, held from November 23-30 at Gatorback Cycle Park in Newberry, Florida.
The event attracts top young riders worldwide, and Hudson is one of only three Australians competing in the 65cc category.
Hudson described racing in the U.S. as both exciting and challenging.
“It’s pretty different and the tracks are definitely rougher,” he said.
“The days are longer, and there are a lot more people competing than at home.”
Riding two Husqvarna 65cc bikes, Hudson competes across multiple classes, showcasing his skills on both a stock (limited) bike in the 7-9 age group and a modified (unlimited) bike in the 7-9 and 7-11 age groups.
As he continues his U.S. journey, Hudson is not only gaining valuable international experience but is also creating a lifetime of memories and friends.
“I’ve raced against so many different kids which has been awesome,” he said.
“But I also got to celebrate my first Thanksgiving with my parents and siblings which was a cool experience.”
