Police officer stood down over alleged “excessive” force towards 20-year-old

A 43-year-old police officer has been stood down after allegedly using “excessive” force towards a local 20-year-old.

The Senior Constable will appear in Beenleigh court later this year over the alleged assault occasioning bodily harm, which was reported to police on 30 December 2023, according to the Queensland Police Service.

The officer was on duty at the time of the alleged offence, which police claim involved excessive use of force towards a 20-year-old Regents Park resident.

“The member has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service and is expected to reappear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 4 December 2024,” the QPS said in a statement.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
