A Logan Village bakery has been named Triple M’s best bakery in Brisbane, just weeks after winning a similar title on another radio station.
After hundreds of votes from locals, Logan Village Family Favourites Country Bakery was awarded the title on Friday morning’s breakfast show with Marto, Margaux and Dan.
“Our customers did this for us, so we really appreciate it,” co-owner Darren Gardyne said.
“We’ve been doing it for 26 years, and we treat all our customers like they’re family.
“And about a month ago we won Rebel FM’s best pie in Logan too, so we’re on a bit of a roll.”
Mr Gardyne said the bakery’s pies made the store what it was.
“At the moment, we’re going through about 3500 pies a week, but when winter comes in we go over 6000,” he said.
“When we first bought the business 26 years ago, it was a one man operation.
“Now we have five staff out the back and at least two-to-three staff out the front at all times.”
Mr Gardyne said baking was something he was “always passionate about”.
“They say you find a job that you love and you never really work a day in your life,” he said.
Triple M host Margaux Parker said it was a tight race for best bakery, with a “matter of votes” separating the winners.
Mr Gardyne said his hand-made pastry could be what pushed the bakery over the line.
“Everything is handmade,” he said.
“And we have our own seasoning recipe that I worked on when I was an apprentice and then tweaked a bit more when we bought the business.”
As for the most popular pie at Logan Village Family Favourites Country Bakery, Mr Gardyne said it was the bacon and cheese or the curry pie.
But he said to keep an eye out for the satay chicken, which he called a “hidden gem”.
