Logan City Council are running a Big Safe Day Out event and several workshops to prepare locals for potential emergencies this summer.
Logan’s Big Safe Day Out event will be held on Saturday 18 November from 10am to 2pm at Underwood Park, Priestdale.
Workshops to help people living with disability develop tailored emergency plans will be held on 28 November and 5 December at Yarrabilba Community Centre.
Registration is essential and can be done online at logan.qld.gov.au/pcep-workshops.
On Tuesday 21 November from 5pm to 7pm, there will be an online information night about bushfires for owners of properties larger than 10,000 square metres.
Logan Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) Chairperson, Mayor Darren Power, said it was important for residents and businesses to have plans in place before a severe weather event or other disaster occurs.
“The recent bushfire threat in Flagstone and surrounding rural areas is a good example of how an emergency can suddenly occur,” he said.
“Your emergency plan should work for you, your family, pets and property for sheltering in place as well as evacuation.”
