Djembe Drumming

Head to Logan Hyperdome library to learn basic djembe drum techniques with musician Mark Lowndes. Each participant will have a djembe to play during this workshop. For adults and ages 16 and over. This event starts at 10am on 16 October and runs for one hour.

Dads in Distress

This group of fathers meet weekly to have a yarn, connect, and support each other as they negotiate tough times. “We each have our own story, but it is amazing how much each story overlaps with the experiences of others,” event-organiser Glenn said. It is a place to share your experiences, and learn from the experiences of others. It is heled on Thursday 19 October, from 6pm, at The Family Place, 35A North Road, Woodridge.

Basic Ergonomics and Stretch Exercise

Exercise physiologist Jessica Badger is this week teaching stretch exercises and general ergonomics for workplace health. Ms Badger will lead an informative and interactive session aimed at improving workplace comfort and enhancing workplace safety. This event runs on Thursday 19 October at Corporate Training Rooms 1 & 2 at 150 Wembley Road.

Sensory workshop

This workshop provides general sensory processing intervention strategies for parents with children that avoid “sitting still and love to fidget”. It will be presented by Melissa Savonoff, a paediatric occupational therapist and creator of Ricardo Reading Mouse educational resources. Head to Beenleigh Library on 2o October, from 11.00am to 12.30pm.

Dragon 5oth Anniversary

New Zealand band Dragon will be performing their greatest hits at Beenleigh Tavern on Saturday 21 October. Starting at 8pm, the band will play songs from the Young Years, Glory Years, Mid-Period, and Phoenix Years. The current band features Mark Williams, Pete Drummond, Bruce Reid, and Todd Hunter.
