Vollyball barrier breaker

Logan police have been using volleyball to “break down barriers between different cultures” and “bridge the gap between the community and police”.

Logan police liaison officers Tial Hlawnching and Maria Fakahau created a free program 18 months ago to encourage local youth aged between 12 to 25 to come together and play volleyball.

It started with around 25 young people, but now there are over 60 volleyball enthusiasts from many different cultural backgrounds who play every week.

The program is held at Logan Metro Sport Centre (Crestmead) every Wednesday afternoon, including school holidays.

Anyone between the ages of 12-25 can sign up and join.
