Logan police have released the details of a three-month sting which led to the seizure of $4.2 million of meth, cocaine and a whopping 19kg of marijuana.
They say the local drug market has taken a massive hit.
The operation culminated last Tuesday (27 September) in a series of raids and arrests across Logan, including in Woodridge, Loganlea, Marsden, Edens Landing and Redbank Plains.
The first arrest involved a 28-year-old Woodridge man who police allege was intending to meet with a person to supply methylamphetamine.
“He was instead met by detectives and taken into custody,” a police statement read.
He has been charged with trafficking methylamphetamine, possessing and supplying dangerous drugs (serious organised crime), and for possessing a gun.
A search warrant at Loganlea led to the arrest of a 28-year-old local man who was charged with supplying and trafficking dangerous drugs, as well as weapons.
A 26-year-old local woman was taken into custody at Marsden and charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, receiving or possessing trafficked drugs, and more.
Another search warrant at Woodridge resulted in the arrest of a local 28-year-old man for possessing cocaine.
The operation led police to a property at Bellbird Park in Ipswich, where a 26-year-old local man was arrested and charged with contravening an order and possessing drug tools.
Organised crime gangs group detective superintendent Troy Pukallus said these arrests and drug seizures would have a substantial impact on the illicit drug market in Logan.
“This is a significant outcome in the context of the harm caused to the local community by this alleged criminal syndicate,” Detective Superintendent Pukallus said.
“We remain committed to disrupting serious and organised crime and ask the public to continue assisting us by providing any information regarding drug and firearms supply in their community.”
