The Logan Orchid Society has its annual show at Springwood Road State School Hall on August 26-27.
There will be champion plants on display – examples including cattleyas, dendrobiums, vandas, phalaenopsis and oncidiums. Judging will have occurred the night before, so winners will be known.
There will be a huge plant sale, with orchids and other species. And experienced growers will be on hand to give advice. Potting demonstrations will be conducted regularly.
There will be other orchid nurseries, suppliers of pots and fertilisers. Plants other than orchids will also be available for sale.
Margaret Tierney, with 50 years of orchid growing behind her, will head up the Floral Art table. Floral arrangements will be available for sale at reasonable prices.
Sandwiches, scones and cakes will be on sale. Doors are open 8.30am-2pm. Cost $4. There will be various raffle prizes and spot lucky door prizes.
The society meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7.30 pm in Logan Central Community Centre Woodridge near the Art Gallery.
