Time capsule treasure on Rosia Road

One of the first homes on Rosia Road in Park Ridge South is back on the market for the first time in more than 30 years.

The original 1920s high-set Queenslander was relocated from Eagle Farm in the 1960s.

It has since been renovated to suit modern living, but according to sales agent Neil Giles, the home has maintained its character and charm.

The north-facing timber home is lined with hoop pine flooring and VJ walls.

It has an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining, with three bedrooms – two of which open onto the wraparound veranda and one that has an adjoining study space.

Mr Giles said one of the home’s best qualities were its ornate features.

“… including all the original 1920s features,” he said.

But he also mentioned the modernised kitchen space.

“The kitchen design highlights quality recycled timber cabinetry, a built-in dishwasher, electric cooktop and an oven with a rangehood,” Mr Giles said.

He said outside the home was just as good, with the house sitting on a “gorgeous” 8.5-acre block.

“The land is gently sloping, selectively cleared, with Macadamia trees leading down to thick, natural bush vegetation containing a dam,” Mr Giles said.

“It is set amongst established landscaped gardens that are also home to abundant native bird and animal life.

“The large tile and timber tropical garden deck is perfect for BBQ parties and family gatherings.”

The property boasts a double carport and 12-square-metre rustic barn that has a six-metre by 9-metre lean-to.

The barn has a 40,000 litre rainwater tank, while the main house is connected to town water.

Mr Giles said the garden has some “quirky” additions and rustic ornaments, such as a replica dunny.

He said the property’s land had once been used for horses but could now be used for anything.

“It is ideal for someone who wants to live or work with space around them, yet still be close to everything the vibrant and fast-growing community… offers,” he said.

The property is only a few minutes away from Park Ridge Town Centre and Grand Plaza shopping centre and has three schools within close distance.
