“Out of control” hooning event in Marsden

A man has been charged in relation to an alleged “out-of-control” hooning event in Marsden.

On 25 March around 3pm, police responded to reports of hooning behaviour on Bourke Street.

Police allegedly found a large group of people committing traffic related offences and driving in a dangerous manner.

Multiple crews attended the location and declared an out-of-control event, before moving people on without further incident.

However, investigations indicated an alleged unregistered 2000 white Nissan Skyline was seen driving dangerously at the event.

Almost a month later, on 15 May, Logan Highway Patrol officers visited a Springfield Lakes address and took a 32-year-old man, who police alleged is the driver of the Nissan, into custody.

He was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police, driving an unregistered vehicle, and obstruct police.

He is due to re-appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 19 July.
