This week is International Compost Awareness Week, and at Beenleigh Community Garden there will be a compost education and information workshop.
The workshop will go through the basics of composting, including the types of composting, materials that can be composted, and the steps involved in creating and maintaining a compost pile.
The host, Cleanaway education officer, Yogi, will also teach attendees how to evade or solve problems that may arise in the composting process.
The workshop will cover the broader environmental benefits of composting, including its role in reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and promoting healthy soil ecosystems.
Those who purchase compost equipment, such as compost bins, worm farms, and bokashi bins, will receive a $50 rebate from Logan City Council.
The workshop is on Tuesday 10 May (tomorrow) from 3 to 4pm at Beenleigh Community Garden, 10 – 12 James Street, Beenleigh.
