Woman pleads guilty to using identity of dead Sea World pilot

A woman has pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court to using the identity of a pilot killed in the Sea World helicopter crash to dodge a driving ticket.

Last December, Stephanie Louise Bennett was caught using her phone while driving.

According to a news report in The Guardian online, Ms Bennett nominated the deceased pilot, Ash Jenkinson, as the driver of the vehicle in an attempt to escape the $1078 fine.

She pleaded guilty to fraud by dishonestly inducing a person to act and one count of obtaining or dealing with another’s identity for the purpose of committing an indictable offence.

Bennett told the court she had attempted to reverse the nomination but was unsuccessful.

The case was adjourned until May 19.
