Work has started to make the Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road intersection with Karen Court in Tamborine safer.
The project is one of many safety upgrades along Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road.
The road will be widened to make room for a dedicated right-turn lane into Karen Court, with a new guardrail installed and drainage improvements.
It is expected to be finished in early June, weather and conditions permitting. The majority of work will be carried out from 6am to 6pm, with some night and weekend work as required.
Temporary traffic lights, lane closures and reduced speed limits are place and motorists are reminded to drive to the conditions, follow signs and allow extra time for travel if needed.
Works are also underway at the Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road intersection with Colwill Crescent in Belivah, where the embankment slope is being trimmed and vegetation cleared to improve motorist sight lines.
The project is partly funded through the Queensland Government’s Targeted Road Safety program which invests in safety projects across the state to address known and potential crash locations using high-benefit, cost-effective safety treatments.
Minister Mark Bailey Says…
“Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road is one of the busiest rural arterial roads in Queensland, serving as a major tourist, transport and freight route.
“We are rolling out another safety upgrade, which will also improve traffic flow by having a channelised turning lane and new guardrail.
”Road safety is a top priority for the Palaszczuk Government, that’s why the current budget delivers more than $1.5 billion towards targeted road safety initiatives.”
“Our targeted road safety program is delivering improvements state-wide, with a key focus on locations where we can make a real difference to reduce the trauma of road crashes.”
