Free hospitality course for Logan locals

Kingston East Neighbourhood Group starts a free hospitality course for Logan residents during October.

The fully subsidised course will be the first to be held at the organisation’s new Tudor Park premises at Loganholme, and successful participants walk away with a Certificate II in Hospitality.

It’s currently all hands on deck preparing the facilities, after they were damaged by the floods earlier in the year.

“We weren’t even sure we would be able to get into our own kitchen to deliver the training” SQW community liaison officer Louise Poole said.

“Unfortunately, the flood affected the Tudor Park facilities and we lost a lot of equipment that we had on site. KENG were due to open their second facilities at Tudor Park earlier in the year, but it all had to be put on hold until we got the all clear that they were safe to use.”

Logan City Council handed keys to KENG two weeks ago.

“We don’t have an official date set for opening the Tudor Park site to the general community yet, so our students for the course will be getting a sneak peek,” Ms Poole said.

“But when we do officially open, we can celebrate with a coffee!”

Locals can register at www.keng.org.au or to Sudhara on 0418 984 790.

Meanwhile, KENG has its annual general meeting on Wednesday September 28, from 5.30pm, at 71-78 Clarks Rd, Loganholme. RSVP to 3808 1684 or admin@keng.org.au.
