Blaze at Underwood Officeworks

POLICE are treating an overnight fire at Officeworks Underwood as suspicious.

The fire burned for more than nine hours overnight after emergency teams were called to the fire at about 8.40pm.

Fire crews were at the scene, on the corner of Kingston Road and Compton Road, managing to keep the fire to the Officeworks building.

Firefighters were at the blaze until well into the early morning, with an alert sent out last night at 11.30pm.

The building was completely destroyed, but nobody was injured.

“A large amount of smoke is affecting surrounding areas, including Kingston Road and the Pacific Motorway,” the alert said.

“Motorists are advised to drive with caution and to conditions. Residents are advised to close windows and doors and, if needed, keep respiratory medications nearby.”

Police are appealing for witnesses or any dashcam that may have captured any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fire.
