Therapy pups new to college

Hills International College is a community-minded place to belong for families.

Set in a safe, quiet location in Jimboomba, Hills International College offers a comprehensive Prep to Year 12 education, offering unique educational opportunities in an environment where language, culture and activities are shared.

Hills displays many characteristics which make it unique.

“We are committed to providing quality academic and sporting facilities where all students have the opportunity to excel,” a college spokesperson said.

“Of note, our volleyball program has commenced on our new multi-purpose courts which were built by the college with assistance from our wonderful Parents and Friends Committee.”

Students have been supported with weekly training to improve specialised skills, game fitness, coordination and knowledge.

With strong external links to local clubs and recognised volleyball professionals, this program is sure to develop into a quality offering for new and experienced sportspeople alike.

Above all, Hills is an extremely friendly school where new students are made to feel genuinely welcome.

“Student and staff wellbeing is one of our highest priorities, and our Head of Wellbeing coordinates an experienced and trained team of pastoral care and support staff,” the spokesperson said.

“Feedback from new families and students is that it doesn’t take long to become part of the Hills family, with students feeling settled and welcome within days.”

The college is eagerly awaiting its newest additions to the wellbeing program.

Two trained therapy dogs will join the college in semester 2 this year.

Born on Christmas Day, May and Barney will complete their rigorous training program soon.

In addition to these pups, four staff have been certified as handlers, and will assist our community in interacting and working with Barney and May.

“We are eagerly awaiting their arrival, and keen to welcome them to our closed-knit community.”

The best way to understand the wonderful whole school connections and strong sense of community at Hills College is to visit the school.
