Biggest threat isn’t man made

Steve Wells (MyCity Logan, May 10-16) is right, there is no Planet B.
But our biggest threat isn’t Man Made Global Warming. Don’t get me wrong. MMGW is a huge problem and we must resolve it. But since just these last 24 months it has been downgraded to being only our 2nd biggest threat
Australia’s biggest threat is the Chinese Communist Party.
Not only are they against our – by the blood of our ANZACs at Gallipoli and the Kokoda Trail – hard won freedoms, China is the biggest contributor of CO2 emissions globally.
Australia contributes 1.2% of CO2 pollution. China? More than 50%. The CCP are still building 200 new coal fired power stations. And they only import 5% of the coal they burn, 95% of the coal China burns is mined within China.
Worst of all because of the CCPs draconian autocracy, the people of China dont know these (and many other – eg. the 1988 Tiananmen Square massacre) truths.
Do we give up on trying to fix MMGW then? Of course not!
But political parties with a blissful utopian view of what Australia can do re MMGW are unhelpful – our Great Barrier Reef is not warming only because of the CO2 that Australia burns!
Yes, we can and must move to renewals and other forms of Green energy, but let’s not do so unthinkingly.
Be careful who you vote for to deliver to our long term security (in all the various senses of that word).
