Will my veges be grown with human poop?

HAS everyone forgotten the stink it caused when Toowoomba wanted to pump treated sewage water back into that city’s water supply?

The town was up in arms, and the flow-on effect was seen in other communities in Queensland who thought this might become a statewide thing.

Okay, so the gasification of human waste isn’t going to impact our water supply. Or is it?

If this biochar is sold to farmers, and there is run-off into the creeks and ultimately our dams, is this not the same thing?

And will there be any labelling on farm produce to let people know that their latest batch of vegetables has been grown with human waste?

I’m not sure I’m ready for my carrots to be grown in something that’s made its way through our sewage system.

I know it’s a natural cycle for produce to be fertilised with poop, but I’m really not convinced human poop is quite right for my next basket of fresh strawberries.

I’m all for the mayor wanting to be green and efficient, but I wonder what might happen if it’s found down the track that this stuff isn’t much good for us humans.

Am I the only one thinking like this?

A. James,

Beenleigh
