M1 milestone reached in upgrade

A major milestone has been reached in the M1 motorway upgrade with the opening of the new Lexington Drive/Compton Road on-ramp at Springwood.

This intersection has been a major choke-point for motorists for a very long time, so I’m delighted to see that it is finally finished.

This is just the latest piece of the puzzle to be completed since work began in 2010.

Work is also underway on Exits 41 and 45, which will ease congestion, cut travel times and make life better for thousands of motorists travelling between Brisbane and the Gold coast.

These improvements are part of a $110 billion, 10-year infrastructure investment pipeline.

Better and more efficient roads allow the smoother and more efficient movement of freight, further cutting transport costs.

And, as ours is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, it is important that we continue to upgrade the road network so that it can cope with increasing demand.

A better M1 motorway means a better quality of life for those who rely on this vital road link.
